The Italian Language Schools for Foreigners of Rome, Milan, Florence, Bologna and Turin are part of the Società Dante Alighieri (Dante Alighieri Society), founded in 1889 by a group of intellectuals led by the Italian poet Giosuè Carducci. Its aim is to «preserve and spread the Italian language and culture throughout the world, rekindling the spiritual connection of compatriots abroad with their homeland, and instilling in foreigners love and passion for Italian culture»

The Italian Language School of Rome is situated in the heart of Rome’s centre, in the 16th century historic building “Palazzo Firenze”.

The Italian Language School of Milan is located near the Central Station, and close to the city’s most popular tourist attractions.

The Italian Language School of Florence is located near the former San Pierino Oratory, a few steps away from the Duomo – Florence’s Cathedral.

The Italian Language School of Bologna is found in the city centre near Piazza Maggiore, Bologna’s famous squar.

The Italian Language School of Turin is situated in the Crocetta district, between Porta Nuova station and the Polytechnic University.

PLIDA certification

The PLIDA Certificate (Progetto Lingua Italiana Dante Alighieri)
certifies competency in Italian as a foreign language.
